A throwback to my youth: BSG was always far more interesting than Star Trek!

Cockpit with decals

Added racing style seatbelts - appropriate since the seat is from a Camaro

Painted all the metallic bits first by layering metallic grey, steel and finally some smoke.

Since the plastic is all white I sparyed a black undercoat so I could potentially preshade but also see where the heck I had already sprayed!!

Basecoats done and drying so the red stripes can be added.

Decide to try the salt method to create scratches on the striped areas. So masked them and sprinkled water and salt on the nose stripe and starboard wing.

Removed the salt but found it left 'wet patches' which was not the intended effect...

Sanded it with some scourer (thanks again Eric) which left it looking more even and slightly better than I originally anticipated.

Masked off and painted the rest of the stripes on the nacelles and fin

Added some "carefully planned" scrapes and scratches

Decals and panel wash

All done, did a faded oil wash over the scrapes to dirty them up a bit and then a Humbrol matt varnish to seal. Some serious lessons learned but all worth it in the end.
